My Campus, The San Diego State University
The San Diego State University was established in 1897 and originally was focused on preparing reliable teachers for the state needs. Currently, SDSU has been evolved into a big university with varieties of majors and registered 33,000 active students in 2005. Also in 2005, a new local transit facility for buses and trolleys was builded at campus area, and results in a convenient access method for students & faculties to be in the class on time. Besides the transit centre, SDSU has equipped with some facilities like the open air theatre, Aztec recreation center, Amphitheatre, Cox arena, and Tony Gwynn stadium. Among, the historic buildings at SDSU complex, the Hepner Hall is the famous one, and its design ever became the former SDSU's main logo. The library and the computer labs also offer sufficient resources for online research purposes, or looking for a representative place either for studying or for group meeting. The Internet hot spots available at the library, computer lab, student services building, and have been extended into student's classrooms. The SDSU bookstore also claims about having the largest collection of used textbook in California, yet I find that buying the book online still much more cheaper. The Entrepreneurial Management Centre (EMC) also famous by its venture challenge program which is conducted annually, and involves representatives from many universities around the globe to participate for delivering their business plans in front of angels as they were try to build their own businesses. For an international student like I, the best things that I perceive in the campus' life are non discriminacy policies and outstanding support from International Student Centre. A lot of group works of my classes can be done successfully because of co-operation spirit among team member from American partner itself or even other nationality. Frankly, I have to admit an acknowledgement for academic life at SDSU.
